A rugby CV is not a job CV with a sport section. Recruiters read it in a different order, for different information, in about ninety seconds. Build it for how it's read, not how it's written. The reading order (build for this)
- Position, age, size: the ten-second filter. Height, weight, primary and secondary positions, date of birth — top of the page, no hunting.
- Eligibility: passports held, passports in progress, age-grade eligibility. This decides which clubs can even consider you.
- Verified numbers: combine stats with verification status. Self-reported numbers get mentally discounted 10–15%; verified ones don't.
- Playing history: clubs, levels, representative honours — most recent first, with minutes played if you have them.
- Video: one highlight link, full matches on request.

The honesty rule: every number on your CV should survive a trial-day retest. One exposed inflation invalidates the whole document — recruiters assume that if the bench press is optimistic, so is everything else.
What to cut
- School achievements once you're two seasons into senior rugby.
- Generic personal statements ("passionate, hard-working team player") — every CV says it, so it carries no information.
- Ten-clip video menus. One reel. Curate it ruthlessly.
- Anything unverifiable that sounds impressive — it reads as padding.
